Online Theory and Practical Classes and Assessment

1. Online Registration of students of intermediate semesters w.e.f. 4th August, 2020
a. Online Registration of students in University/Institute/College/School for attending classes of various courses of different academic programmes of intermediate semesters is integrated with Google class room/meet.
b. Deans, Heads and concerned faculty members of the Departments will ensure that integration of Google class room/meet with official online registration of students for attending classes of intermediate semester students is implemented from 4th August, 2020. Deans, Heads and concerned faculty members shall ensure that only bonafide students attend the classes in fall semester, 2020.
c. Last date of online depositing of fall semester fee for intermediate semester students shall be 31st August, 2020.
 


2. Online Classes and continuous assessment of students in fall semester, 2020 (Intermediate semesters)

a. Online theory and practical classes
(i) Online theory classes of every course has been arranged only on Google Classroom/Team, as per the Time Table, Teaching Schedule of individual faculty member for each course he/she is teaching.
(ii) Online practical classes by demonstrating every experiment through video shall be conducted as per the Time Table.
(iii) Heads of the Departments shall ensure that Monthly Teaching Report (MTR) of every faculty member of their departments and supporting departments for every course he/she is teaching shall be submitted to respective HoD (through mail) by the first week of every consecutive month..
(iv) Quality and academic format of every online theory and practical classes shall be monitored by HoD and senior faculty member(s) of the department.
(v) Under present circumstances, a minimum of 20% of syllabus of every course shall be covered by giving assignments through emails/Google Classroom. The students will submit assignments back to the concerned faculty member through Google Classroom or emails.
(vi) Students may get their doubts cleared from concerned faculty member during/by Google Classroom/zoom cloud meetings/emails etc. Students may also send their doubts/questions to the respective Class Representatives (CR), who will compile all questions and send an email to the concerned faculty member. The faculty member can then upload all answers in one document/through emails etc.
 


b. Online continuous assessment of theory component
Module I

(i)

Online Assignments – 4 (weightage - 20%)
(ii) Online Quizzes – 2 (weightage - 10%)
(iii) Online Tests – 2 (weightage - 30%)
(iv) Attendance : 75 % or more than 75% (weightage – 10%)
(v)

Online group project/Online proctored End Term Examination (weightage - 30%)

   
   
Module II
(i)

Online Assignments – 4 (weightage - 20%)

(ii) Online Quizzes – 2 (weightage - 10%)
(iii)

Online Tests – 4 (One in every month; August to November, 2020) (weightage - 60%)

(iv) Attendance : 75 % or more than 75% (Weightage 10%)
   

Institute/College/School/Departments may use their autonomy for using either Module – I or Module – II and may have flexibility for distribution of weightage as per need of each course.
There will be 100% internal evaluation for Fall/Autumn semester, 2020.

c. Online continuous assessment of practical component
In the light of the report of the UGC; April, 2020, State Govt. directives dated 11th July, 2020 and considering the surge in cases of Covid 19, online practical classes by demonstrating every experiment through video shall be conducted as per the Time Table.
(i) Heads of the Departments will get the videos of all practical classes prepared by concerned faculty members and recorded for spring and fall semesters.
(ii) Experiments through video of Practical Courses of terminal semester (Spring 2020) may be conducted in the month of August, 2020.
(iii) Practical classes for intermediate semester students will be conducted by video prepared for every experiment and as per time table for fall semester, 2020.
(iv) Assessment through online submission of practical records and online viva.
  a. Concerned faculty member will design the format in which practical record is to be submitted and will provide to every student.
  b. Students will submit practical records of every experiment online (email etc.) and shall be graded by the faculty member (weightage of all Experiments/practical – 75%)
c. Attendance (75% or more - 10%)
d. Online viva- voce examination at the end of semester (weightage 15%)
 

Note : Institutes/Colleges/Schools/Departments may have flexibility for distribution of weightage as per need of each course.

d. Weightage of Theory and Practical Components
i. If a course contains only theory then weightage of theory component will be 100% (i.e. 3-0-0).
ii. If a course contains only practical then weightage of practical component will be 100% (i.e. 0-0-2).
iii. If a course contains Theory and Practical both, then weightage of theoretical and practical components shall be as per the credit hours allotted for theory and practical (i.e. 3-0-2).
 


3. Academic Support Components
Open access materials offered through online sources like various MOOCs portals such as Swayam (swayam.gov.in), National Repository of Open Educational Resources (nroer.gov.in), etc. can be provided to students to make online learning more effective. University Grant Commission (UGC) has also shared 10 links with which students & learners can easily study from home amid lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As per an official notification released by UGC, "There are several ICT initiatives of the MHRD, UGC and its Inter University Centres (IUCs) - Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) and Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC), in the form of digital platforms which can be accessed by the teachers, students and researchers in Universities and Colleges for broadening their horizon of learning.
